The National Art Honor Society participates in and supports the Renaissance policy of excellence in education. The organization is community service oriented. The students have participated in painting faces at Homecoming and other events, designing shoes for the Vans Custom Culture contest, creating holiday cards for veterans in an assisted living home, exhibiting original art in an online Artsonia gallery, working with younger art students and painting murals in the building as well as out in the community. In addition, the students have exhibited and won scholarships in the Long Island’s Best competition at the Heckscher Museum, Smithtown Township Arts Council, Bay Area Friends of the Fine Arts and Suffolk County Art Leaders’ Association student shows. The National Art Honor Society also awards scholarships to graduating seniors who are pursuing an art career.
