Do you love English? Whether you are a poet, novelist, or simply love to spend your free time reading or even watching a good film, the National English Club/Honor Society is the place for you. We meet and create a forum to discuss the many forms of literature, its impact on our everyday lives and in the world around us, and we look to promote that interest in others. Looking to acquire leadership skills or community service credits? Projects including tutoring will be scheduled. For those students wanting to go the extra distance and be initiated into the National English Honor Society (NEHS), applications will be available; however, it is NOT a requirement of the National English Club. Requirements for the NEHS include:
Your Involvement during this year will allow you to be eligible for the Honor Society. For all 9th graders, we would like you to be involved in the English Club for all of 9th grade and you will be inducted after you continue your involvement through 10th grade!
- Maintain an overall weighted GPA of 85 and a weighted English GPA of 90
- Complete or be enrolled in one honors or A.P English course
- Actively volunteer in the community for 10 hours (Hours from other honor societies count!)
- Earn 4 credits for the honor society (Out of more than 8 opportunities. Examples: reading to children, bringing in Barnes and Nobles Gift Cards, etc...)
- Attend 75% of the meetings
- Applications will be handed out in January and due at the end of February
